Behind the lens

Since leaving school I have made my living as a professional photographer. At the age of 18 I started work with local newspapers ‘The Rhondda Leader’ & ‘Pontypridd Observer’ where I gained my experience as a press photographer. Two years later joined ‘Golley Slater & Partners’, one of the UK’s leading advertising agencies where I was to enjoy a different side of photography in advertising. I was then asked to join the launch team at ‘Wales on Sunday’ where I stayed for 3 years before deciding to make the step of becoming self employed. I have been extremely fortunate to have been able to mix work with pleasure as my passion is fly-fishing and the past 25 years seen me freelance for many of the UK angling publications notably 'Trout Fisherman' UK's leading trout fishing magazine. This has taken me to many countries including Finland, Sweden, Iceland and recently Switzerland but it is the west of Ireland where I prefer to be. The dramatic rugged landscape of Connemara and the incredible light and mood only found in the west is a photographers dream. The last couple of years I have had success in selling my landscapes in various galleries in UK as well as Ireland.
Those of you that have seen my previous website will have seen hundreds of my images. This year I wanted a fresh new look and this site is in its early stage with only a few of my recent images. Please come back to see more work as I upload more.

What's in the bag!

I am a very critical person and my standards are high that's why I use the best equipment on the market. For most of my work I use the Nikon D700 & D800 camera bodies together with a selection of high end Nikon lenses which enables me to get the best out of my images. My favourites being 24-70 f2.8, 70-200 f2.8 and 14-24 f2.8.

I also find the only way of getting the quality I am looking from my images is to print myself.

All my work I print using state of the art papers and canvases and epson k3 inks. I have 3 Epson printers including the Epson Stylus PRO 7800 which enables me to print large format.
